I have always been fascinated by how technology has been able to address problems and bring positive change. In the field of tech, there are countless ways to broaden your knowledge base, grow up as a person and even affect others in one way or another by creating new things or using code as a bridge communication gaps. This particular passion pushes me to fit in with this ever changing world of technology.
I have always been interested in volunteering as a way of giving back to my beloved communities. Given my inclination towards empowering youngsters who are passionate about technology and integrating them with similar passion, DEVCON perfectly fits into this frame. The opportunity will enable me work collaboratively on a platform that fosters creativity among the youth, promotes cooperation amongst techpreneurs and advances technology. There could be no better chance than to learn more about the world of technology thus making new connections by working together with experienced professionals and attendees.
The rapid growth of Mindanao’s tech scene is something I find very thrilling and would want to be involved in. The DEVCON Mindanao Summit is an important stage for showcasing the talents and innovations from the area which I am part of, hence being an indigenous person from Mindanao archipelago makes it easy for me to see huge potential here. For example, by volunteering at DEVCON regardless of your background, you show an interest in what can be done within this region and how you contribute towards it.
I always liked how technology has made it possible for us to solve problems using our own tools. Programming, in particular, feels similar to casting a magical incantation to make something out of nothing. You can just code and type a few lines, and bam! You’re able to create a website or application that can be used and interacted with by anyone with a computer device.
I volunteered in the Mindanao Summit simply because I naturally like to build things with programming. With my experience here, I want to hone my skills in making better applications. Nothing more, nothing less.
I think Mindanao is a great place to build applications for. It’s still a new and fresh area. Perfect for building the foundations for new applications.
My journey in Mindanao is a tapestry woven with threads of passion for technology, a commitment to volunteerism, and a deep-seated connection to the vibrant culture and potential of the region. From my student days, I’ve been deeply involved in fostering Technopreneurship in Bukidnon and my first job in DOST-CARAGA after I graduated was actually in line with it.
As a volunteer organizer, I spearheaded the first-ever Startup Weekend in the province when I was still a student, igniting a flame of innovation and entrepreneurship in the community. Witnessing the energy and creativity of local talent coming together to create tech-startups was truly inspiring. Because of my burning spirit in building the tech community in Bukidnon, when I first heard about DEVCON, I became interested in being part of its community. DEVCON’s mission to empower and connect developers resonated deeply with my own aspirations to harness technology for positive change.
Mindanao, with its rich tapestry of cultures, landscapes, and challenges, became the canvas upon which I could paint my aspirations. In Mindanao, I found not just a place to volunteer, but a community in need of technological solutions to uplift and empower. Through my journey in Mindanao, I’ve come to understand that technology isn’t just a tool, but a catalyst for progress, and my commitment to leveraging it for good continues to fuel my endeavors in this beautiful and dynamic region.
