Winston Damarillo is the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of the PLDT Group and the CEO of Talas, the Group’s Big Data organization. He’s a Silicon Valley veteran with over 20 years of experience as a technology entrepreneur and venture capital professional.
He serves as the Executive Chairman of Amihan Global Strategies (AGSX), a strategic consulting firm serving large corporations in Southeast Asia; Exist Software Labs, an award-winning leader in enterprise software; and Acaleph, an infrastructure company pioneering software-defined storage.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from De La Salle University, and has completed executive programs at the Harvard Business School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the University of Oxford.
Jerry Rapes is the Managing Director of Amihan Global Strategies (AGSX). He has extensive enterprise consulting experience, having started his career with Andersen Consulting. Prior to AGSX, Jerry was the President and CEO of Exist Software Labs, a technology solutions provider for the enterprise.
Jerry is the Founding President of DevCon Philippines. He previously served as VP of Cebu Education Development Foundation for IT, a consortium dedicated to workforce development initiatives in the ICT and IT-Enabled Services industry, Chairman of the Committee on ICT of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and Chair for International Marketing and Board of Director of the Philippine Software Industry Association.
Matt O'Kane is responsible for formulating and executing the plans of the product and technical teams of Freelancer.com and its related websites. Also, Matt is responsible for company-wide budgeting and process improvement.
Matt has worked in high-growth online businesses since 1999, specialising in large websites and apps (from 100,000 users per month to over 12M) for most of that time. In particular, Matt has held key leadership roles at Expedia (Asia Pacific), and Fairfax Media (Australia), including as the Product Manager for the highly successful Stayz.com.au.
He is a regular guest speaker at Sydney University's School of Medicine in topics related to disability advocacy.
Joel is the Developer Experience and Evangelism (DX) Lead for Microsoft Philippines and a 23 year IT veteran. His role covers the Microsoft solutions for academe, developers, startups and ISVs. His previous roles were cloud and enterprise business lead for the Philippines as well as Senior product manager for windows server based out of Seattle for 4 years. Joel has played roles in consulting, sales, presales and a founder of his own company. In the “earlier” days Joel helped architect solutions that ran some of the largest systems in telco prepaid and web architectures across financial services, government and retail. He has helped many companies increase their business agility through their infrastructure and maximizing IT investments.
Tadao had worked in the theater arts industry in the United States for many years. His career took a new turn three years ago when he decided to work in the mobile game industry in Japan. While practicing as a planner, he learned to analyze KPI of the social game titles he operated, reconstruct the game specifications based on the analysis, and design a variety of game-related graphics to fit the operational purposes. Currently Tadao is a director at KLab Cyscorpions, leading an operations team in charge of a number of mobile game titles released by KLab Inc., and shares his experience, knowledge, and insights with his colleagues here in the Philippines.
Alistair has been studying programming for over 25 years, and is still learning. Occasionally, he also teaches, trains and mentors other developers. He has had broad-range of experience in various industries including finance, telecommunications and Internet industries, from startups to large-scale multinational organizations. His passion for tinkering has gained him technical experience on everything from concise, high-performance, low-level systems development, desktop applications, Web applications, mobile apps, scripting and automation, all the way to large scale enterprise systems. Currently, he leads Acaleph building next generation infrastructure products, and is one of the technology leaders at Amihan Global Strategies (AGSX).
Steve is a self-taught web developer and open source enthusiast who dreams of creating his own game someday. Right now, he works on various web projects for work and for fun.
He loves Python. He and his friends volunteer to help spread news of Python’s awesomeness. They maintain the local community, hold meetups, and organize an annual conference (PyCon Philippines).
He also helps organize Docker Manila meetups, and regularly shows up to Manila.js events.
Alvin is the Vice President of Data Science and BigData Insights at PLDT/Smart's Talas Unit, the Philippines' largest Telco. Prior to PLDT, Alvin was Microsoft's Director of Developer Platforms while serving on the board of the Philippine Software Industry Association from 2011 to 2014.
Before returning home, Alvin was in the US for 15 years working for Microsoft, where he launched the Xbox Games-on-Demand service, was Director of Business Management for Microsoft SQLServer & SQL Azure, grew an online games marketplace to $300M annually, and published papers on distributed databases.
Eric Su is the CEO of a modern social network called Lifebit - a social network around life goals and happiness and City Lifebit - a photo for cash app for iOS and Android.
Involved in the technical decision as well as product design - Eric knows the product development process intimately and is always an open book about design and entrepreneurship.
Joshua Lat serves as the Scrum Master, Lead Developer, and Infrastructure Engineer of Deal Grocer, Taste Central, and BeautyMNL. In the past, he's known for winning the Kaspersky International Cup 2012 which made him interested in IT Security and E-commerce. For the past couple of years, he has been sharing his knowledge and experiences in several conferences and meetups around the country to help spread awareness and discuss working solutions to common problems in startups and web development.
Bob is a Mozilla Representative (ReMo) Mentor & Council member from Makati City, Philippines. He is the Lead Localizer for the Tagalog Firefox and Firefox OS Projects. He is a graduate of BS Computer Science and is currently an IT Consultant to big companies in the field of telecommunications, broadcast and aviation in the Philippines. Bob is also a Tech News columnist at the Manila Bulletin. He is dad to Robyn Andi Xeon and Bea Gaia Haswell.
Howard is currently the Director for Architecture and Core Engineering for TALAS Data Intelligence, Inc., the Big Data organization of PLDT Group. Working in Big Data is deja vu for Howard, having been a database developer early in his career for a company specializing in direct marketing. Prior to taking the red pill and joining TALAS, Howard spent his weekdays eating data records and application logs for SMART Communications, Inc. He spends his weekends cooking for his wife and two kids.
Phil Smithson is a User Experience expert with over 10 years experience in the digital landscape. He passionately believes in putting users first in everything he does and his main goal in life is to make users lives easier through excellent Service Design. He is the co-founder of UXMNL and a director of On-Off Design & Technology with offices in Hong Kong, Manila and Melbourne.
Wilson is a Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of Mobility Creative Labs, a mobile and game studio based in Nueva Ecija. He is also an Assistant Lead of Google Educators Group Nueva Ecija, a GEG Philippines chapter who trains teachers in K-12 technology. He also functions as an External Affairs and a Part-Time IT Instructor in Asian Institute of E-Commerce Gapan Campus. Currently, Wilson is also the Marketing Director in EDGEKIT Computer System, located in Taguig City.
Chris has been a part of the Microsoft community for many years with the handle "X-Mint". Since then, he has been engaged on projects ranging from consumer, Telco based solutions, to LOB applications.
Recently, he got the exciting opportunity to work with a team to develop an application for Samsung SUR40, better known as Microsoft Pixel Sense. He currently 4 apps available in WP Marketplace - XMT Traffic Watch, Photo Magic feat “It’s more fun in the Philippines”, Anthology of Thoughts, and the official MMDA for WP app. He spends most of his weekends either tinkering in his lab at home, roaming around tradeshows, or watching movies.
Andre Marcelo-Tanner is the Director of Technology for Examine.com
He has been developing and tinkering with websites since 1997. Understanding how important it was to make information accessible, he has a deep understanding on how to present information to a user that is both easy to use but also brings a depth of data.
In his free time, Andre likes to run, and sleep.
A game developer for 4 years at Playlab Inc. (formerly Anino Games), Neil has released projects from partnered clients and IP projects, namely, GraveMania for Android, Cherry Dots and Sago Express.
Newly released match-3 mobile games like Dragon Cubes and Bubble Cubes, Neil is assigned to tackle the UI system and ensure that assets used in the game are optimised.
Neil is also currently taking his Masters Degree in Computer Science at De La Salle University. He is also interested in pursuing high-level research in the computing field.
Olivier has been working for Amazon Web Services across Asia-Pacific and Europe to help customers build resilient, scalable, secure and cost-effective application architectures. He advises how to build platforms that align IT infrastructure spending with revenue models, effectively reducing waste and disrupting how product development had been executed over the past decades. In Olivier’s beliefs, agility is driven through quick iterations of lean and quantifiable developments.
Prior to his AWS time, Olivier was responsible to run the digital product strategy for an educational book publisher across Asia and lead development efforts to build a virtualised web service platform for a Luxembourgish Internet Service Provider.
Eji started working with KLab Cyscorpions as a Software Developer and pursued his career to become a Game Designer. He was able to study game statistics and sales trends to maximize the overall profit while improving the game experience of players. He and his team organize daily game events and conceptualize unique new features to keep players engaged. His contagious enthusiasm instills him and his team members with outstanding performance and dedication in an environment where creativity and innovation are encouraged.
Marcieb Balisacan is an independent game developer, designer, and producer who has worked on games from mobile, casual, online multiplayer to AAA titles. With a background in computer science and multimedia, and more than 13 years experience in the games industry, he has worked as a producer, game designer, technical lead, and studio manager. He has been a technical reviewer in publications from Packt Publishing covering game design and development topics using CryEngine, Unreal, and Unity. He has co-founded a game development studio startup named Full Mana Studios, and currently holds the title of Lead Game Engineer at Synergy88 Digital.
Toph is a VR Evangelist and Developer. He works as an R&D Engineer at Nokia by day but leads a double life in the metaverse. He co-founded VR Philippines to boost the local Virtual Reality community and help put the Philippines in the forefront of this exciting technological revolution. He is currently setting up his own VR startup, Veer, which aims to bring virtual reality to everyone. He also serves as the Board Member for VR at ACM SIGGRAPH Manila.
Michelle is a core member of Raspberry Pi Philippines and a Computer Engineer. She is an IOT enthusiast and a Program Coordinator/Open Source Evangelist of 8layer Technologies Inc. focused on collaborative frameworks for academe, government, community, media, and corporate partners through open source technology and hackathon initiatives.
Lonel is the Country Manager for HERE Philippines and manages the Regional Map and Content Operations in the Country. He is an experienced IT executive with over 11 years of industry experience working with different multi-national companies like Dubai Ports World, ABS-CBN, and Nokia. He took up BSBA Computer Management at the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Manila. He is a software guy by heart and also loves travelling. He loves maps not just as part of his profession and he believes maps can help us navigate and solve complex problems and built effective solutions using it. He love maps; that’s why he is here.

Drew is a Retired U.S. Intelligence Officer with a career that spans over a quarter of a century in Intelligence Tradecraft and Big Data Analytics, He is the Managing Director of Adatos Pte. Ltd. which designs and implements 'Intelligent Machines' that provide predictive insights to directly shape and influence Your Customers behavior.
Ian is a Science Research Specialist II for a DOST-PCIEERD funded project which deals with a development of Web-based Geographic Information Systems for tidal current energy. He is a licensed geodetic engineer and a part time WebGIS consultant/developer. He enjoys hackathons, 'chilling out' and reading about technology, mapping and anything about geo.
Arnie is Microsoft’s Technical Evangelist focusing on Microsoft Azure. He is responsible for evangelizing about Microsoft’s cloud vision, and adoption of Microsoft’s platform across developers, IT professionals, students and startups.
Prior to joining Microsoft, Arnie had first worked for 8 years in a company he started up with friends then worked for 12 years in IBM under the services organization handling various roles both in local and regional capacities.
His immediate past role in Microsoft is that of Platform Strategy Lead where he engaged with the government sector, developer and open source communities to help foster interoperability between Microsoft and non-Microsoft platforms.
Ayo is currently the Project Manager for WebSAFE at Project NOAH, funded by UNICEF and the DOST. A proud Iskolar ng Bayan, he worked at UP Los Baños as a System Analyst before moving back to his hometown in Quezon City to work with Project NOAH. As he leads the team of developers and GIS specialists for WebSAFE, he also engages entrepreneurs and leaders for a better Web as founder of AbsorbingDesign.com. He loves to play guitar, write blogs, and eat Adobo. Ayo is also a proud babywearing dad to his 3-month old son, Kahel.
Ino is currently a Data Scientist and Lead for Visualization for Talas Data Intelligence, Inc. He completed his computer science degree in the University of the Philippines and then worked for a year in industry. Being more research oriented, he decided to pursue his master's degree in the University of Southern California, specialising in multimedia and creative technologies. During his master's, he encountered scientific computing and visualisation, which led to his interests in large scale parallel processing. Other interests lie in real time simulations and visualisations, traveling, video games, music and the arts, food, and photography among many others.
Gian has been a PHP developer for 5 years, won 2 hackathons, spoke in various events. A PHP Freak.
Prem is an Engineer (and partner) at Cascadeo PH. Likes to be in the sea and spend quite weekends with broadsheets and GitHub.
JM is a software jack-of-all-trades; he's interested in the whole spectrum of software from UI and UX, to the nitty gritty of backends. His day job involves building backend systems for clients and architecting his company's core product, an ERP system for small businesses. In his spare time, he dabbles with photograpy, lettering, and sketching.
Aivy is a Senior Principal Software Architect at Infor. He has been in the IT industry for almost 15 years, and specializes on mobile application development. He has done a number of talks regarding mobile trends and mobility enterprise applications within and outside the country, and is also a proponent of beautiful software. He was a finalist in the Young Leader of the Year Award by the Asia CEO body last 2013, and winner of the Manager of the Year awarded by Infor on the same year.
Alvine is a Software Engineer at Accenture/Avanade PDC. He is a Microsoft Student Partner Alumnus and currently a Microsoft Technology Evangelist where he is a Speaker/Trainer in different Microsoft Communities. A PHINUG Speaker for the Windows 10 App Dev, he is also a Microsoft Technology Associate in Software Development, DBA, Web Dev, Networking etc. and Microsoft Certified Professional. He also joined Microsoft Imagine Cup 2015 and became one of the National Finalists. He has also competed and won in various hackathons in the past few years.
Anthony is an Engineering Manager in Test at Medidata Solutions. He plays an integral role in advocating code quality by providing extensive system and functional level tests. For big data projects, he was able to create a comprehensive CI environment with automated tests, code analyses, validation, and deployment builds that were integral components in allowing several projects to be high quality in their functionality and their deployments. This has created a tight feedback loop where problems are found and resolved quickly. In his spare time, Anthony loves to bowl and play foosball.
Mike is currently the President and CEO of Exist and is responsible for leading Exist’s corporate strategy and operations.
A veteran with over 15 years service in the Software & Information Technology industry, Mike directs and oversees inter and intra-department activities in Exist that contribute to overall productivity and growth.
Prior to being named CEO, Mike served as COO and CTO respectively, where his work and dedication had delivered the engineering team to where it is today. He has played an instrumental role in making Exist stay ahead with technology, tooling, and development methodologies.
Adrian Co is a Technical Architect at Exist with over 10 years experience in software development, design and consultancy.
He is a key member of Exist’s big data team and is responsible for the overall technical design and implementation of big data solutions.
A committer for several Open Source projects such as Apache ActiveMQ and Apache ServiceMix, Adrian holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from De La Salle University.
Enzo was the Head of Voice, Cloud, and Managed ICT Solutions for PLDT SME Nation and is currently the Head of Business Development for Cloud and Data Center for PLDT Enterprise. (They are responsible for Product Management and Customer Engagement for PLDT’s Big Data, M2M/IoT and Cloud Solutions.)
He has more seven years of experience in marketing and business development; prior to focusing on ICT, he spent five years engaged with non-formal learning environments and not-for-profits.
Enzo obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Communications Arts from the Ateneo de Manila University. He has a Master’s degree in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Dulds is a Technical Training Analyst and Technology Evangelist for Chikka Philippines. He’s in charge of teaching and training developers on the latest internet technology standards; as well as of building awareness on the company’s platforms and services.
For 10 years, Dulds served as an instructor and assistant professor at the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB), where he was instrumental in developing and deploying of several IT systems on top of his teaching and research work.
When he’s not busy spreading the word about the Chikka API’s to the developer community, he spends his free time geeking on computer games and graphic novels.
Jason comes before us bearing more than two decades of technical proficiency in software development and system architecture. He is responsible for the successful launch of a wide array of system implementations and application development projects. His passion revolves around finding ways to use technology solve business challenges and take advantage of new opportunities. Throughout his career, his work helped facilitate transformative improvements on how companies operated and serviced their customers. Jason's dynamic industry experience covers BPO, Marketing & Events, Travel & Recreation, and Broadcast Captioning.
Mikko Perez is Founder and CEO of Ayannah, a leading provider of digital commerce and payment services for online and mobile communities, especially the unbanked. Prior to leading Ayannah, he was Director of Finance & Business Development at Chikka and helped steer Chikka to profitability. He also spearheaded Chikka’s expansion into China, Japan and the US prior to its acquisition by PLDT.
Having begun his career as a community organizer and adult educator helping strengthen social enterprises in the Philippines, he remains actively involved in initiatives that encourage social entrepreneurship and sustainable development in emerging markets.
Deu is currently working for HyperGrowth, a big data and mobile analytics company based in Singapore and Indonesia. Prior to Android, he has been working primarily with Java back-ends, and doing R&D on Mobile Widget SDKs for the Wholesale Application Community (WAC) for Smart under Novare Technologies. He currently co-organizes for the Philippine Android Developers Community (PADC).
